The world is not going to change because of donations or charities. If majority of the people in the world still live and act like they are doing right now, nothing is going to be changed.
What changes the world is money, power and fame. When you acquired two out of three, you might have a chance to change this world a tiny bit.
That is why I think doing donation, charity and volunteer is waste of time. People who want to change the world should focus on improving themselves and make themselves influential by gaining two of the three elements.
